Sitia - Vai

East of Crete - we offer you an excursion to the palm grove of Vai. You will reach the ancient Minoan city of Gournia on the northern coast of the island, then following the northern coast you will visit Sitia, where the best Cretan wine is made.

Afterwards, visit Toplou Monastery, dedicated to the Virgin Birth and John the Theologian. The monastery museum has valuable relics and a touristic pavilion in the courtyard, where you can buy Byzantine icons and other souvenirs. Then head east to the Vai palm grove, the world's northernmost natural palm reserve, with more than 500 palm trees.

Not far from the palm grove are the ruins of the ancient Greek port town of Itanos, in Vai you will have the opportunity to swim in the sea and dine in one of the traditional tavernas.
